UKFPO Tier 4 Sponsorship Application Approved
UK Foundation Programme Office e-update
Friday 3 July 2009
The UK Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO) was formally approved as a Tier 4 sponsor today. This means that they we will act as sponsors the non-EEA graduates of UK medical schools who require a Tier 4 visa and are starting a Foundation Programme post in August. Please note that this sponsorship will cover all those graduates affected across the UK, including those in the devolved assemblies.
We have agreed with the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) that our visa sponsorship letter will include a statement on behalf of the Postgraduate Deans confirming that the applicant has been offered a Foundation Programme recognised by the medical community. This means that postgraduate deaneries are no longer required to provide this letter separately for these graduates.
The UKBA have agreed a transitional arrangement whereby these graduates will be able to start their Foundation Programme posts in August and apply for a Tier 4 visa before the end of October 2009. This arrangement will cover the vast majority of this group whose student visas are valid until 31 October 2009. These graduates must still apply for a Tier 4 visa before their current visa expires, but they do not have to do it by the originally published deadline of 13 July 2009. The UKBA will also issue a letter which the graduate can show his/her HR department which confirms that they have the right to work in the UK .
