International
Bristol Medical School is fast gaining a reputation as one of the leading medical schools to embrace opportunities for international exchange, research and travel.
This isn’t just limited to the thriving Erasmus programme offered in the third year; language classes, an intercalated BSc in International Health, External SSCs and the 5th year Elective are just some of the opportunities on offer. And if that isn’t enough, there’s numerous student-led groups focussing on International Health issues, proposing global health awareness, campaigns and socially responsible travel.
You don’t need to speak a language to be interested in international issues. Many of us will consider working abroad at some stage in our career, so getting involved now may widen your postgraduate employment opportunities.

Furthermore, Bristol welcomes students from all over the world, making us a truly international medical school. Together, the International Rep and Welfare Rep provide support to students coming to study from outside the UK and help you make Bristol your home for the next 5 years.
For students coming from outside the UK to study in Bristol, we appreciate that there are extra challenges and are here to help you settle in. We are re-introducing an ‘International buddies’ scheme this year which will pair you with older International students who can help you get the most out of your first year in the UK!
