Men’s Football

Training: Sunday afternoon – The Downs

Mens FootballAt the Galenicals Football Club we look to mix a high quality football, with strong social undertones. We play competitive games one a week in the Bristol Inter-mural League, playing in the Premier Division every Wednesday. We like our football so there is also training every Sunday afternoon, and this year we are also looking into integrating a 5 a side team as well. We also play against other medical schools, and this tends to be a higher standard, with games on a Saturday and then a social of epic proportions with the opposing team in the evening. All this culminates at the end of the year when we go to NAMS to represent Bristol in a tournament that all medical schools in the country compete in. This is the highlight of every year, especially the night out that follows it.

However, it’s not all serious, we are a very social group of guys and have numerous socials throughout the year. These are often with the girls’ team (added incentive to turn up) and highlights each year always include the sports club dinner, and first social of term. There’s also a doctors vs. students game at the end of the year too.
