Inbox feeling a little bit empty? (!)

The role of secretary acts as the centre point of communication between students and the faculty. Here is a brief outline of the secretary’s responsibilities:

  • Set out the agenda and minute Committee meetings and Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) meetings.
  • Co-ordinate Committee meetings.
  • Send out weekly Galenicals Newsletters which keep students up to date on events (socials!), interesting talks from various Medical societies, career events and other useful information.
  • To manage the student mailing lists and ensure all subscribed students are within the correct year groups.
  • Handle emails from staff and students and distribute announcements to relevant student year groups.

Acting as secretary is almost certainly enjoyable for all those who relish in being organised and have a soft spot for emails or constant typing (just beware of repetitive strain injuries!). This is a great job and is essential to the running of the Committee.
